The London Hub
Working together towards renewed health and missional re-engagement in London’s local churches is a key part of our vision to make Jesus known
The Need
The population of London is growing… The number of churches is increasing and in some places church attendance is growing but… many independent churches are experiencing the opposite. Many find themselves with one or more of the following challenges:
Plateaued or declining numerically
An aging congregation and leadership… and no aspiring leaders in the wings
Struggling to connect with the changing communities around them
No clear mission or discipleship strategy
Few, if any, conversions and baptisms
Struggling financially or in buildings and facilities that need some care and attention
To engage effectively with London’s growing population, existing independent churches need to find their way back to health and new churches need to be planted. This is what the London Hub is all about. And we are seeking to do this collaboratively as leaders within London, engaging one another’s abilities and resources to help each other forward.
The Question
What is it going to take for independent churches to return to health and significantly impact their communities for Christ? On our own we might be able to do something, but there is greater effectiveness in working together.
By sharing resources and personnel, we can:
Create a greater sense of working together, locally
Provide health checks for struggling and prospering churches alike
See local independent churches re-energised or re-launched and re-connecting in effective mission with their communities
See new churches planted through collaborative effort
Provide ongoing support both locally and across London
Highgate International Church’s Story
Mark Davies is an Elder at one of Church Growth Trust’s properties, Highgate International Church (HIC) London, and the Regional Training Director for GLO, one of CGT’s partners on this project. He has first-hand experience of how the project works. “We have been focusing on arresting the decline, stabilising the church, looking for some key giftings and regrowing a central core of committed workers.
“HIC has always been about building relationships and seeing people come to faith in Christ” Mark explains. “For us, it is not so much about starting new things, as building a team for the future, futureproofing our church against what was a dwindling and ageing congregation. Without the clarity that a health check brings, the mentoring and, in HIC’s case, the hands-on support from the project, our future would not be looking so positive.”

Church Revitalisation
The Church Revitalisation Project is a multi-year pathway for local church growth. Designed for dwindling or ageing congregations that lack younger members or leaders. When elderly leaders struggle with challenges and change, this project aims to listen.
Since launching in 2016, 60 churches engaged with the process. The pathway involves an advisor working with you over a few years. Where required a worker can be part-funded to develop the church’s growth.
The Church Revitalisation Project involves advisors from Church Growth Trust, GLO and Counties in the UK.
You can receive discernment to strengthen your local church.
