Happy Christmas. Counties Evangelist Paul Willmott shares his testimony of bringing the real Christmas story to school children.

Paul is the creative brains behind “2 Minute Twist” - a set of short YouTube videos exploring BIG Faith Questions. Living in the Black Country; Paul, Vanessa and their family are active members of Amblecote Community Church. Working alongside a number of local churches, Paul creates links with primary schools and has direct Biblical input through whole-school assemblies, RE Lessons, and online resources.

PAUL’S STORY

Today, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, it’s good to be reminded of Jesus’ own heart for children. The heart of Paul’s testimony today is about sharing with them what the Christmas story really means:

“December began with a very special visit to church from two local primary schools. It was a real delight to welcome over 150 children and staff to learn about the birth of Jesus and how we celebrate Christmas with music.

Amblecote Primary School had asked if they could bring key stage 1 classes. Then, year 1 classes from Brook Primary had asked if there was a Christmas activity we were doing in which they could join in; this seemed like a great combination. Then, the plans began. We pulled together a fantastic band and decided on songs and how we could present the message of Jesus.

The afternoon was fantastic; we sang carols and heard a very real Christmas story from the viewpoint of Mary and the Shepherds. By the end of the visit, the children were up on their feet, jumping and dancing to the carol ‘Joy to The World.’ Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time and left with big smiles on their faces.”

"Just a quick email to say thank you so much for allowing us to come and visit this afternoon. The children had a wonderful time and really enjoyed themselves! You and all of the band were fantastic. I hope that we can repeat our visit next year." Mrs Hill, Class Teacher

"Thank you so much to you all for this afternoon - it was brilliant! The staff and the children had a wonderful time. Thank you to all of the team for giving up their time for us and the effort that you all put into giving the children a lovely experience with an important message." Mrs Hounslow, Class Teacher

Have a wonderful Christmas Day from all of us here at Counties. Praise God for the work He does in the lives of children, men, and women across this land. Amen.
