Counties Evangelist Paul Davies praises God for 10 years of GSUS Live in Wales
“Therefore, my dear Brothers and Sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the LORD, because you know that your labour in the LORD is not in vain.’” 1 Corinthians 15:58.
Ten years ago, we gathered in prayer in the Swansea Valleys as a small team of workers from local Churches. United and eager but still with a few nerves, we welcomed young people and teachers aboard the GSUS Live trailer! Questions arose from the local community as to what the trailer was about.
Excitement was in the air as many prayed for a fruitful week of lessons, introducing a new generation to the Gospel. A short time later, we boldly approached the same secondary school to ask if we could begin a Christian Union once a week during lunchtime. By the grace of God, we were warmly welcomed, and this year, we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary!
Known as CiCS (Christians in C****** School), the team estimates that thousands of children have heard the Gospel over the last decade. We have received permission to host a weekly CU, and the ‘24’ and ‘CSI’ resources have been shared. Lessons on Christianity and the Bible have been given. New Testaments have been received. Easter, Christmas, and new school year assemblies have been welcomed, as well as a guest speaker and an African children’s choir!
Following the Covid pandemic, we as a team were concerned that the school may not welcome us back. On the contrary, the reception remained very warm, friendly and mutual trust had been built.
Please thank the LORD with the CiCS team and with Mount Elim, Waterfront, Lon Las, and Bethel Church fellowships for His grace and many kindnesses for the wide-open door for a ministry amongst the youth in the Swansea Valleys. Thanking Him that thousands of young people have heard the Gospel over the last 10 years. He began this by using the GSUS Live trailer as the catalyst!
Please pray with us in 2025 and the coming season that every young person, their families, and members of staff at the school may receive eternal life - John 17:3.
‘What is the chief end of man? Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever!’ (The Westminster Shorter Catechism).
In the unbreakable love and union with Christ.
