Counties Evangelist Officer, Andy Mugford, shares how a local man searching for work has found Jesus and is unashamedly spreading the Gospel.
ANDY’S STORY
Jeremy first came to our church via the CAP Job Club we were running as he was looking for work six years ago. He quickly became a core group member and helped set up and clear away afterward. Serving others was never too much for him.
While attending the Job Club, the friend who had invited him, asked him to do the Alpha course at our church. In his own words, Jeremy says: “That is how it all started and brought me to faith”.
Despite having experienced bullying at school and since, Jeremy has never shown any malice or desire to get revenge on those who have made his life very difficult, including close family members.
His grace-full approach has been enhanced through coming to know the Lord. He has also met up first thing in the morning with other guys from church to play boules in the local park. After the game, they read a Psalm together and pray. Some passers-by have asked them for prayer, knowing what they are doing, as they are there so regularly.
Jeremy did get work over lockdown in a Covid centre and has been pushing out application forms and CVs since. As he waits for work, he serves older members of the community by walking their dogs and getting them shopping. He unashamedly shares that he is a Christian simply and clearly, and passes on the Good News Paper to some of his dog-owner contacts. He is an amazing example of Jesus’ love for those whom many in society forget about.
