Job Profile

What will the job involve?

The successful candidate will have a good level of proficiency in the following:

· Providing general and administrative support to the full range of ministries overseen by the Community Church including those involving children, young people and vulnerable adults.

· Perform general office work; maintain supplies and various files; keep records and compile these into periodic or occasional reports. Accuracy and attention to detail is a must.

· Able to effectively utilise church and office IT tools such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and ChurchSuite (with training provided as necessary), and provide basic training to others.

· Offer initial pastoral and prayer support to those visiting the church office

· File sermons, reports, correspondence and other assigned materials.

· Transcribe dictation; type letters or other documents as needed.

· Edit and prepare weekly bulletins and other documents as requested.

· Make outgoing calls such as ordering materials or supplies; pick up supplies as needed.

· Help to maintain mailing lists and church roster.

· Photocopy documents and assemble as needed.

· Do routine letters and documents as needed/requested.

· Keep accurate church records (e.g. church members, prospects, calendar, etc), working in cooperation with our treasurer.

· Answer the phone and screen calls, messages and emails for the church.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Leadership Team and trustees.

Who are we looking for?

Essential

· Be a Christian, able to represent not only the Community Church but also Jesus Christ Himself by demonstrating real love and concern for all people.

· Be pleasant, discreet, and capable of honouring confidential communications by exercising tact, courtesy, confidentiality, and diplomacy in receiving callers, in person or by telephone.

· Have general knowledge of standard office equipment and computer systems and a willingness to further their training.

· Show a willing attitude of Christian service to their position and its responsibility.

· Possess good communication skills by telephone and in person.

· Be able to deal with various types of personalities, both on the phone and in person, in a professional manner.

· Be able to work cooperatively with the rest of the team in the office.

Desirable

· Be an active member of the Community Church or have the intention of doing so.

· Have a current driving licence to facilitate working across Church locations.
